As most of you know I traveled to Houston, Texas the last week of June to compete for the title of Miss Teen United States-World, although i didn't do as well as i had hoped, i had the time of my life! Not only did i meet 39 amazing young women, but i met a handful of ladies i will never forget. Not only were the state title holders incredible but the staff that Gaspar had put together were one in a million.
The first day we arrived we had orientation and went over what the week would look like, straight from there we had rehearsals from 6 to 10.... We all were worn out after only the first night! I was assigned to my roommate who was the lovely Illinois, Zhane Houston. Getting to know her was awesome and she's definitely a sweetheart! After a small amount of sleep monday night we got up early on Tuesday to eat breakfast with everyone, i swear that week all i ate for breakfast was cottage cheese and cantaloupe, so good mixed together, and the exception of french toast one day that week! We went straight to rehearsals and rehearsed all day long until we had a luau for lunch! the next few days got stressful but were still a blast, we had rehearsals wednesday morning and prelims wednesday night. Prelims went amazing! We performed opening number and competed in evening wear and swimsuit! It was a long long night and i talked my mom into bringing me some McDonalds because i was starving... Once again the night flew by and we were up before you knew it preparing for interview! Which was so much fun and the judges ranged from Models to Owners of football teams. I was asked questions that were about me and my profile to questions about my opinion on certain things, such as the oil spill that has been occurring for some time.
Once again after interview was over it was off to rehearsals, lunch, rehearsals, dinner, rehearsals and bed! Last day but not least were finals! We did a new opening number and found out top 15, top 10, top 5, and the new Miss Teen United States, which is however, Belle Owen Miss Teen Kentucky! She had a rockin personality and was beautiful just like all the other girls who were gathered to compete for the one and only title! After competition had ended we were released to spend the time with our families and stay with them that night. I got the opportunity to thank Gaspar, all his staff and Julia my amazing house mom for the opportunity and their help with everything on stage off stage and back stage. That night i got to go to dinner with my family and my AMAZING make up artist Danielle Carlsen... I was so excited to eat a huge dinner but ended up ordering edemame and asparagus? but after that was in my stomach... i moved on to an amazing dessert or a few different ones :)
That week was one for the books and i have been so thankful for everything anyone and everyone has done and did do to help me prepare. I cannot wait for the appearances to come and where life will take me next! My dad and friends were finally successful and talked me into staying at BSU for my general education for the first year, after this year i will move to Milwaukee for University of Wisconsin and begin studying for my Broadcast Journalism degree. I have been offered many opportunities and i can't to share them with you all eventually! For now i am just enjoying my summer with my family and friends, i leave for Washington tomorrow night for a few days to spend with my friend and soon to be roommate Michelle and her family and my best friend/cousin Tanner who now lives in California playing for a summer league baseball team. This summer has already brought me so many adventures and like i said i cannot wait for what's next!
