A small blog, by a small girl. Taking you through the adventures of the Leighton family and how we always seem to be running late.

So Leight...

Obviously our Mexico cruise was, well a little over 2 months ago, and what a surprise that i'm just NOW blogging about it.
Like most know, us Leightons are full of energy and words (yes we never shut up) so to sum most of the trip up before I give some of the deets, our trip was crazy!

We started by boarding the ship in LA, that was an adventure in itself. Flying in the day our cruise ship was boarding was probably not the brightest idea, considering it was pouring rain and apparently the means everyone needs to drive 15 mph down the freeway. My Grandparents flight was delayed but on board the ship they were saying over the intercom "Instead of departing at 4:00 our departure time will be closer to 8:00" so Nana and Grandpa had plenty of time to get there. When they were 10 minutes away, the captain apparently decided not to inform anyone that we were pushing off and that the ships doors were closed. YES, Nana and Grandpa missed boarding the ship and were left at port in LA. Not to mention they have been on 25+ cruises and they were the reason we were going on this cruise, they have been married a whopping 50 years!! They had to stay over in LA for the night and the next day and fly out of LA to Cabo on Tuesday where they met us. That day we all just went to the beach so they didn't miss too much but it still would have been nice for them to be there with us for our first formal dinner and what not!

Mainly all the days at sea we would play basketball, lay out, watch my Dad gamble, or pig out in the Windjammer (the almost always open restaurant). Tanner (my cousin) and I were pretty much inseperable, not a surprise. We had a blast! Most of the nights we would go to the dance club and show everyone what Idahoans could bring, whether it be our mad krumping skills, swing dancing, or techno. The Dragons Lair never let us down! Our second stop was in Mazatlan, it was awesome. We ventured to the old Chapel which along the way i got a chocolate covered banana that was frozen all the way through and took me about 45 minutes to eat. We took a "taxi" (a pick up truck with picnic benches in the back) to the cliff divers and then headed back to port and board the ship again. Then once again did the on boat activities, the boys played dodgeball and lost... which I've never seen my cousin Trey so mad about :) went to the onboard ice skating shows, or comedians finished the night up with eating, and the Dragons Lair. Finally our last stop was Peurto Vallarta where we hit up the beach, and Trevor (yes my brother) got corn rows done in his hair.... to say the least it was interesting. We headed back again for the boat, and repeated our usual activities and after 2 days were back in LA to head home.

It was interesting spending Christmas Eve and Christmas on the boat, considering it was about 80 degrees and sunny... with NO SNOW. But still awesome we got to spend it together and eat as much as we wanted. I had the time of my life and can't wait for our next family cruise which will hopefully be Australia/New Zealand or Greece and Turkey.

Finally Finals are Finished!

So many F's, now let's hope i didn't manage to get that sort of grade on my final tests! YIKES

I am so relieved that classes are over for winter break, because this means... a family cruise to Mexico, hopefully some snow, Christmas, Phenomenal food, New Years, and Snocross galore!

This semester of school for me was so stinkin lazy, 2 classes that were both lecture classes and just seemed to drag on and on and seem somewhat pointless to me... yes college classes being pointless sounds a little absurd, but seriously. I guess it would have helped if i actually had an interest in Theatre and Cultural Anthropology. However, these two classes never once talked about sports, snow, food, or broadcasting so i did not find them the slightest bit catchy.

That's besides the fact, school is out and i need to clear my brain of all educational facts until close to the end of January. You could say us Leighton's are starting off this christmas break with a BANG because we are taking a cruise to three ports in Mexico! I only have two complaints about this trip we are taking...
1. I do not like hot weather, beaches or sand.
2. I will not be having a white christmas. dang.
BUT fortunately our cruise ship will have all sorts of fabulous things, food, swimming, food, DODGEBALL, did i mention food? Yes cruises have amazing food and all you can eat as well.

The reason I put dodgeball in all CAPS and Underlined is to show some of my excitement about our family team we will be putting together and not only winning the tournament but dominating other families. In case you did not know, Leighton's are very very competitive. So there may be plenty of blood, sweat, and tears... of course of excitement. But probably not even tears. We don't cry. My cousin Tanner and I decided we are going all out for dodgeball: Sweatbands, shorts, tube socks, and last but not least.... goggles. I said it, we will be wearing goggles. Although we may not look as fierce as these guys
We will be bringing the heat!

Another great thing about Mexico is that i will be using my new T1i camera for the very first time capturing sweet (hopefully) pictures for everyone to see after we return... that is IF we return. With all that craziness going on in Mexico, my Grandma and Mom are both saying "We wouldn't mind staying on the ship the whole time" well .... uh I DO! I want to explore, and that is just what I will be doing. Along with my sidekick Trevor.

All in all I'm expecting to return from Mexico with so many memories, hilarious stories, hilarious pictures, and a lost voice... because thats how every Leighton vacation ends so no expectations needed, they're already promises.

Oh also I have a new song on repeat that i can't seem to turn off by Matt Wertz.... check it out @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgUakEWO9gc
