A small blog, by a small girl. Taking you through the adventures of the Leighton family and how we always seem to be running late.

Hello Seattle... Again.

As you know, it is race season, with that being said it is travel, travel, travel for the Leighton family. This year actually it has been just my beautiful mom Wendy who has been my travel partner, and let me tell you we have had quite the adventures within the past 2 weeks! I'm going to have to say yesterdays travels win hands down for being one of the most funny, difficult, and stressful days.

For some odd reason my mom finds it a good idea to schedule our flights early in the morning, eh usually placing us taking off somewhere between 6-9 a.m., meaning we're waking up between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. Yes, I will tell you that I am a morning person and once I'm up for about five minutes I kick my booty into gear and gain my typical every day energy, so I'll stop complaining about the early flights. Anyways that is beside the point, our flight yesterday (December 9th by the way Happy Birthday to my wonderful Grandpa!) was scheduled to leave Boise at 9:20 a.m.... in which it did, so no complaints there. Along with the early flights, we somehow always get stuck with the worse lay overs, this time our layovers... YES layovers as in multiple were in Seattle and Minneapolis. We made it to Seattle around 10:15 p.m. Seattle time which is a little bit long for a flight from Boise up to there.

Our next flight out was at 11:15 p.m. so we had about an hour to spare, and eat, of course. All was well as we were boarding our flight out of Seattle to Minneapolis, it was fine until about an hour into our actual flight, if that makes sense we were IN THE AIR when the pilot told us we needed to make an emergency landing due to some warning lights going off. So to myself I thought "Okay we'll land somewhere along the way, we have to be near an airport" NO he continues to inform us over the intercom, sounding very hesitant "uhh folks well yeah that means we will be returning to Seattle to figure out what the problem is, please continue to keep your seat belts fastened" Thank you Pilot whateveryournameis for that reassuring message.

Back to Seattle we went and we were "supposed" to be there for an hour, the hour turned into approximately 7 hours and we finally got to re-board the aircraft around 5:30. But wait, we had already missed our flight out of Minneapolis which was to bring us here, to Fargo North Dakota. And of course with our luck, we finally landed at 10:40 ish, 40 minutes after the last flight to Fargo flew out. Fortunately the nice airport people gave us a hotel room, some food vouchers for 6 dollars which did nothing because my meals range anywhere from 12-18 dollars and a plane ticket to fly out yet again today at 9:20am so up at 6:00 it was. I forgot to mention, they kept my luggage over night, so i shimmied into my moms jeans, my same boots, same shirts, sweatshirt, and jacket. I felt very sorry for the lady next to me, but for her sake I did at least shower :)

Good news is, at last we made it! After one tiresome and grumpy day, Wendy and I are safe and sound in 9 degree Fargo North Dakota ready for round 2 of racing for Leighton Motorsports and we are P U M P E D!
I wish you all good luck on your holiday travels and hope you survive the long layovers, and flight delays similar to ours!

Also: I would like to add, Rest in peace to my cousins puppy sweet Tuffer, he was an awesome bulldog with a huge personality <3
